Dyrhólaey

The cliffs at Dyrhólaey protrude out into the ocean making this area incredibly stunning. It is one of Iceland’s most popular tourist areas and welcomes thousands of visitors a year to take in the sights. The Dyrhólaey rocks are home to hundreds of birds including puffins, guillemots, and arctic terns.

Waterfalls in South Iceland

There are two famous waterfalls in South Iceland, both only a short drive from Vik. These waterfalls are called Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss. At Seljalandsfoss you can walk behind the waterfall. At Skogafoss the waterfalls from a 60 meters (200 feet) high cliff which is just wonderful to see. Between these two waterfalls, there is the beautiful little village Vik which is worth a visit.

Reynisfjara – Black Sand Beach of South Iceland

Reynisfjara igneous beach is located by Reynisfjara village near Vik. Reynisfjara beach was formed after the lava flow from a subglacial volcano following the glacial period. The subglacial volcano was known as Dyngjujökull. The volatile and explosive interaction between water and lava or magma (stibnite) such as at Reynisdrangar are more common in Iceland than in many other countries. 

Diamond Beach

Nature has created a spectacular sight on the south coast of Iceland, made out of thousands of pieces of eroded volcanic rocks. This place is called Dimond beach, because of the numerous chunks of ice the drift ashore after breaking from the nearby Vatnajokull Glacier.

Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon

Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon is a beautiful glacier lagoon in south Iceland. it is a very special place where you can see the ice breaking off the glacier into the lagoon, sometimes big calving icebergs, and feel how powerful mother nature is
